okay sludge is a bad thing.. but its there its real and mostly it dosnt do much harm.. in fact it can even benefit by helping old dodgy seals not leak.. he he

but sludge in quite large quantities builds up in none important places.. oilways are usually kept clear by the high pressure oil being forced tru them.. if they were not problems would soon happens due to sludge build up.. so sludge isnt a real problem..

this sludge builds up on the bits of the engine that dont matter over much.. the inside of the valve/cam cover and the inside of the crankcase plus the bottom of the sump is where it mostly lives..

now if u disturb this stuff bad things can happen.. narrow (important) oilways can get blocked by the tons of disloged sludge.. damage can get done..

the odd leaky seal aint the main worry.. its what happens to all that dislodged sludge that in essence wasnt doing any harm at all..

over all if u think there is high mileage sludge in your engine.. disturbing it is bad thing.. especially for the very limited (if any) gain to be had by changeing to a none dyno oil..
