for a car to actually run out of oil it needs to be errr say minus about six pints of the stuff at least.. err twice.. err.. freed it up and simply carried on running it.. jeesh dude what a tale of incompetance and auto abuse.. he he he..
damned hard to actually run a car out of oil.. assuming it dont use tons of the stuff.. one would have to ignore oil warning lights flashing on and off every time u went around a corner as the stuff sloshed about and the pick-up momentarily sucked air..
the tale sounds like total bullshit to me.. for a car to seize up cos its ran out of oil.. well needing a free up aint the word i would use.. he he
let me put it this way.. under a heavy load i would say about one minute without oil would have rods thru the block and one hell of a major engine disaster.. running low on the stick does no harm but letting things reach the point of the oil level going below the oil pick up.. ie.. really no oil well disaster time is close.. he he.. engines dont seize cos of lack of oil.. they explode he he
basically there is only one thing that will cause an engine to seize without super major damage.. its over heating.. with a new engine with tight bore clearances over heating can cause the pistons to expand and seize in the bores.. even with this a good mechanic would insist on fitting new pistons and honing the bores..
