Wayne,

the head was totally refurbished by a machine shop with guarantie prior to fitting at the workshop.
All valves and moving parts of the valves where new. The head was resurfaced (skimmed), vaccum tested with zero faults.

The guy from the machine shop told me that the line between cylinder 2 and 3 was damaged due to improper handling and not by age or overheating. Saab hasn't overheated after the head gasket was changed.
The head gasket itself was too old and poor quality. Refering to the machine shop guy. And non original after market part.
The workshop didn't used the right head bolts, mixed between torx and 17mm 'normal' bolts. Not common.

All this will give me the right for complaning against the workshop, the laws are for me in Luxembourg. About the workshop are known at the moment more than 18 recorded complaints (successfully complaints).

I paid high-end prices for the labour and parts there. More than EUR 1,200.00 and the bill for the recovery EUR 220.00.
If I'm going to a Main Dealer Saab Workshop I can expect that all repairwork is undertaken to the highest standards and quality. Not that poor craftmanship I've gotten.

Actual value of my Saab here in Luxembourg is around EUR 1,500.00 (even with that low mileage and in very good shape). Remember it's a non Turbo and Automatic. Not much sought after.
All would be Saab Drivers are looking for Turbos with 5-speed, Coupé (mine is the coupé version...) and loaded. My Coupé is sill loaded exccept the AC and towbar. But pretty old, 1982 with the old styled front.

If I'm spending nearly the value of the Saab for repairwork I can expect that the work will be good and usable for more than 103 kms.
And the workshop wasn't able to fix the oil leaking from the Rocker Cover. Charged a new sealing and used the old one with a lot hylomar sealing compound.

I'm absolutly disappointed about the quality of their craftmanship.

In my situation you wouldn't made another decission.
