I'd suggest you remove the seats, and everything from the interior to get a good look. I thought my problem wasn't that bad either until I pulled up the glued in fire blanket, (which had been holding moisture on the exhaust tunnel rusted metal came up with it, and I was look at the cat. converter.

As for possible solutions I'm somewhat baffled with mine as well, what's the condition of the rubber boot sealing the fire wall where the gear shift rod passes through to the engine compartment? Mine has tears in it, though I'm not sure that water could get in there unless driving through serious puddles on a regular basis. What's the condition of your windshield seal? I've heard of that seal giving plenty of people problems. If you find the definitive leak post it here, as I need some direction too. Best of luck!
