drive axles. You may have had one of the tripod bearings on the inner ends of a drive axle fail. Now, it's possible that the primary chain failed - I know one fellow who had that happen.
If you have a friend who's mechanically adept, have them look at the tripod bearings. If that's the problem, it's a much less expensive fix.
Mufflers are usually clamped to their associated pipes - check on the http://www.eEuroparts.com website.
