...uh, how bad is it if you overfilled it? After buttoning up the car I put in 7 qts (knowing the capacity was 8.5) before I checked the dipstick. It read way up on the dipstick; now I know why. I guess I should drain it and re-fill, slowly adding until it reads full on the dipstick.
But that brings up another point - is there a reliable way to read that doggone dipstick? With the engine running and transmission in park, it always seems difficult to determine the level on the dipstick. I suppose it's because the fluids moving around in there, but if that's the case how are you supposed to really determine the level?
