Good job updating the grommets. Those things are usually the source of most vac leaks. Correct, the pcv valve is the inline one, not the adapter nipple on the valve cover.
The groove and sling is internal to the dizzy and cannot be accessed without disassembly. If you're taking the valve cover off, you may as well plan on a new gasket as well as a distributer o-ring (external leak at the dizzy) as well as the little rubber upper timing chain guide pad. Just helps quiet things down. You may want to pull your chain tensioner (new a/c on head) to check the chain slack (i think i recall 15mm being max spec).
