I'm a little hazy, so maybe this title will attract some attention...
I think when the rotors changed from solid to vented, the calipers stayed the same. The brake pads got thinner to accept the thicker rotor.
Beginning in 1988 the handbrake moved to the rear & the newer calipers were completely different. They don't even look anything alike.
