From personal experience, Erikksen is a solid tranny. In general the automatic is well...problematic. It's an old design that wasn't really designed for a turbo charged 180hp. I ended up purchasing a 5 speed and decided to change. Fuel and performance is better plus maintenance doesn't mean a complete replacement (like the automatic). Be certain to change Type F fluids ONLY every 25k in the new one. Consider tranny fluid lines, radiator hoses, crank seals and water pump if it hasn't been done. I've got 220k on my motor mounts and will be replacing soon, So that's a judgement call, but if your already there? I replaced my steering rack at 130k. A lot easier to deal with when the motor is out. I bought the rack from Goldwing with a lifetime warranty. eeuroparts.com should be a good place to start for parts.
Good luck.
