I've had a chronic problem with the swaybar on my 87 900T since I went with poly bushings. They never completely fall off or get to the metal to metal stage as the bushings are held in by the brake backing plate....but the little rim punches off. (After a lot of research I'm going to get rid of the front bar on my 87 900T anyway.) I've driven thousands of miles with the bushing pushed against the backing plate.
