It was way more of a bitch than I would have imagined, but I did drift that big bolt out sideways, and with lots of floor-jack English, managed to extract the broken lower bracket, and insert the new one back in place without having to remove the main shock mount, with the nightmare access entailed. Also appreciate your warning to temporarily cover the radiator with cardboard. Had I not, I'm sure a whole new world of hurt would have opened up on me.
The reason I got so hung up when I started was that since there was enough clearance to get the T50 driver through the raised tab on the body, it seemed there should be enough clearance to run the bolt itself out that way as well.
I'd guess also that it wasn't just a coincidence that the clutch hydraulic line let go (at the rubber/ternplate swage fitting) two weeks ago, if the engine/tranny was completely clanking around freely with both ears fractured off the front support bracket.
And indeed, the shifting is perfectly smooth through all the gears.
I think considering that you all have other professional lives out there, you'll go to heaven for sure given how much effort you put into assisting bozos like me.
Why do people want to keep these 20-year Saabs on the road, anyway?
Best,
Alan
