Hi guys. I'm new to the chat site, but thought I would offer up a suggestion as to what might possibly be causing this problem. I encountered the identical problem on one of my Volvo's. Volvo and Saab used a very similar version of the Bosch electronic ignition on their fuel injected engines. Remember, everything on a fuel injection circuit, electrical wise, must be complete and in perfect syncopation. When I encountered this problem, I think my wife was getting ready to have the police haul me away...very much swearing, howling,(it was only midnight thirty, and gnashing of teeth. Sat down with electrical diagram and started tracing wires on ignition side of fuel injection circuit. discovered that if ignition system amplifier, on left side of engine compartment, is fried, engine will die when jumper cables removed. purchased new amplifier, and problem was fixed.
Hope this works. I own a 92 900S convertible and an 87 Volvo 240GLT estate, and noticed the similarity in the two parts.
Hope this works.
