I've owned several and they are a much more laid back cruiser kind of car--they feel more like a MB SL from the late 80's. All of the things they say are true in terms of mileage(21), performance (probably faster than they feel), and highway rpm (you don't want to cruise much faster than 75). The reliability thing is total BS-ANY transmission in any car that hasn't been properly maintained will be suspect at 150K. Personally I like them a lot for the driving I do. Cars had three speed autos for years and many only had two speeds. Honda had a two speed autos up until the late seventies and the world didn't end. I even had an "S" with a auto and liked it too. If you compare them to the 5 speed you'll be disappointed, if you view them as a seperate type of car I think you'll find them rather charming.
