Why could it be the flex hose and not the whole brake line itself (rigid part)? What is it about the flex hose that would make it more apt to be clogged up than the rigid line? The same fluid is passing through both sections. When I flushed the old brake fluid, it was amber colored, not black and dirty.
If the new caliper is locking up, wouldn't the piston just stay in the position it was left at when the brake pedal is released? Meaning, when pressing on the pedal, the piston presses against the pad which presses against the rotor. When the pedal is released, if the caliper is locking up, the piston would stay in that same spot rather than slightly backing off and allowing the pad to come away from the rotor (in normal mode). In my situation, I can feel the car being held back as I cruise down the road. I may drive 30+ miles without touching the brake pedal (all highway), and yet the car feels like it's pulling extra weight as if the piston is constantly pressing against the pad. Wouldn't the action of the spinning rotor eventually wear off enough pad lining to allow the rotor to free itself from the binding-up caliper, esp. on a 75-mile commute?
I'm ready to purchase the flex hose for both sides, but I'm also thinking that there might be something wrong with the "new" rebuilt caliper and should get a replacement for it. I don't want to ruin the new pads and rotor on that side.
