Ya,
After rebuilding from a wreck-job (done by yours truly into an Izuzu Trooper in 2001), I feel the same way about parts, fix-it jobbies and the love I used to know...
If its not one thing, another springs up....But hey, they don't build 'em like they used to...you know that. I have always regarded your posts as more-than-wise (and sarcastic as hell), but that angle only supports you in your efforts to rescue these cars.
I also own a 99 VW passat 1.8 Turbo...ya, its a turbo, ya its smooth without bullcrap boost issues, but working on that one makes the SAAB look beautiful again (other than the rusted bolts)...
Parts are expensive, time is more expensive, bud dude, what else would you be doing for those hours per week, cleaning your garage?..uh, no.
THere is plenty of sweetness in these old sweedish steel monsters...you won't be as satisfied with a new one (unless its a 911 Turbo).
As Burlybrian said, Keep your chin up.
Zaab
