Sometimes you just have to leave the thing and do something else....I had the ultimate aggfravation doing a double engine rebuild last year after the failure of my crank oil seal allowed the spring clip to enter the oil pump and trashed my new rebuild....(85 900T). But Ipersevered remembering the YEARS of service and the 284K my car has on it....now it has 291K and has been totally reliable since....I love this car like a family member and it's irreplacable.
On another note...sounds like your clutch got oil soaked hence the slip....
My advise...just do things one at a time and be patient...you'll get there...and you know it'll be worth it!!!
