Man, I'd say that if the problem persists your best approach is to pull and fully disassemble the outer CV's looking for wear in the ball grooves or on the balls themselves. I still can't imagine how adjusting the outer tie rod ends would effect this condition. I've driven cars with bad inner drivers (and tripod bearings) that knocked under load in high gears but not (noticably) in low gears. Not sure why that is but the difference is the rotational speed of course so that must be a factor. Sometimes these things just can't be identified until they get worse. Cheers.
