Hi Roy,
My understanding (and I could be mistaken) is that the non-laminated doors were found on the '79 - '80 models. Differences also exist in the characteristics of the center stripe with the rarer versions denoting 'Turbo' and others having, I believe, 'EMS', 'GL', and '900'. On this note, the center stripe on the older doors can also be removed (not that you'd want to) and does not represent a molded component of the actual door as do the post-80 models.

I suggest you contact one of the site sponsors that deal with salvaged Saabs (such as East of Sweden) as they would most assuredly be able to provide detailed information on these doors as well as possibly having some in inventory.
