My worst-case solution is to make a transverse cut with a hacksaw on the bottom. Don't go down far enough to mess up the threads, but go far enough to allow the metal casting to expand a bit.
Salt stinks. You'll experience the same or worse when you try to change your ball joints.
This is a purely brute-force method; only use it when all other options (like the torch) have been exhausted.
