Smelling my dipstick again...

..and it smells like fuel. Again. It all started long ago with a faulty FPR. Changed FPR, still fuel smell on my dipstick. The oil level rose when my FPR went (about 1/2 qt., changed oil multiple times since). It does not now, it just smells like gas. I decided to change the plugs and came across something the "import specialist" (who actually drives a 900) did when I first got the car. He put in BCP R 6ES plugs and some aftermarket cap and rotor (from NAPA Im guessing). From what I understand the R type plugs are a no-no for my '90 900T. I tested resistance on my plug wires (bougicords) and the #4 wire tested low (1670 OHMS) while the others were within spec of 2000-4000. The #4 plug had more black around the bottom of the threads than the others. What Im wondering is if the #4 plug was not getting enough spark because of a bad wire, would unburnt fuel escape to other parts of the engine and stink up the oil? Looks like there is some in the intake just past the throttle.
Be kind, Im new to this stuff and Im sorta grasping at straws...
