I have an 85' 900t as a "daily" driver (usually take the wifes' 95' 900s due to it usually having just been driven) w/a good (?) AMM...car runs great 3 min after starting, but likely has a bad NTC sender - haven't gotten around to swapping in a spare - AIC valve bypassed in the interim...anyway, I'm hesitant to swap the AMMs as I don't know what caused the unit in the 87' to crap out (if thats the problem) - aw' screw it, I'll do it tomorrow.
The 87' showed a 1/3 full tank when the instruments 'came on line' ;) & I added some fresh gas + some Lucas fuel treatment (claims to "neutralize poor fuel quality" - why not?) just in case the gas was as old as the last registration (04') I found in the car. Along with the old registration was a bunch of service records & original documents from the 1st owner (who paid $20,500 for the car 12/86 - Saab should re-release the orig 900...can you imagine!!!) revealing the car now has practically new Boges, an AIC, brake & clutch masters, clutch slave, tune up, cat back exh., seat spring upgrades & recently repaired wiper rack...the list goes on! At any rate, it's a good looking rust free (where it counts - there's a few rusty stone chips here & there, but the under carriage/wheel wells/doors/fenders/hood/hatch are mint!) classic 900 turbo & we've all seen some really abused/beat up/rusted out & generally nasty examples needing all sorts of work out there selling for three grand or more!
The ODO has apparently been stuck at 61k since 1999 (is it better to repair or replace? - salvage yard ODOs don't get tested) & by the annual mileage driven prior to that, I deduce the actual mileage to be around 95k. It's a tight car & will be pretty nice once I get the fuel mixture back to spec & attend to a few other minor issues - mostly correctable with a bottle of 'Orange Blast' & a few rags ;) - sorry about the rant - new toy!
