i had read your name recently while searching the archives on this matter...so thanks for responding.
i guess the Saab cassette deck wiring had me confused - the red switched power went to the blue wire, and the green went to the blue/white.

the only other thing is the dash illumination issue - maybe the br/white wire can control the deck lighting along with the rheostat (which actually works on this car!). if you know, lemme know!
