My issues two weeks ago were almost identical to yours. Electricity can do weird things when things aren't 100% ideal, & I think the weakening elec sys causes funky symptoms to materialize. In my case, the only differences were that I didn't see any panel lights go out (daytime driving) & my SRS light reinitialized (the steering ring's broken, so it blinks for about two minutes after startup & then glows steady for the rest of the drive).
I'm guessing that if you test your battery you'll find less than 13v at rest & no charging voltage. Do you have a Bentley manual for trouble shooting the elec sys? I was told the most likely causes are:
1) a bad alt-to-gnd wire
2) worn out voltage regulator brushes
3) bad elec gnd'g somewhere else (eg, rt chassis behind the rad)
4) shorted cell in the batt
Without going thru the Bentley procedures, the easiest "test" is to hook up a 2nd heavy gnd wire (16 ga or better; the factory gnd is 12 ga) from the alt to a solid gnd location. I used one of the screws holding the engine lift eye since both screws already had other gnd wires attached. Make sure the batt is full charge (12.5v or better), start the car & see if you now get 14v charging voltage at the battery.
Let me know what happens & what other things you've already done.
