You need a repair book or online description of the engine trans. unit removal proceedure.
Follow it step by step.
There are some improtant things to know such as sealants of the correct type,placements and items that need service replacement with the drive unit out of the car.
The first part is to be done with a helper.
Place a doubble thick blanket or such on the roof of the car.
Fully open the front hood.
Where the hood meets the pivot assemblie there are 2 bolts on each side.
I think there are 13mm headed.
One you partly unscrew and the other comes fully out,this will be appearent as you see how the hood attachment will slide off it's mounting.
Take off the washer system hose.
You and a helper on the other side of the car then lift and slide back the hood from it's mounting the carefully flip it nose back and up flipping the hood back ove 180 degrees and carefulyy placeing the hood on the now protected roof for temp. storage.
This hood removal is kind of the opening shot for old timer Saab mechanics.

This version of Saab autos were designed to be worked on and fixed with realitive ease.
Saab didn't say these cars were the most intelligent car ever built for nothing.
If your lucky you'll find the 2 mounting loops where the factory provided attachments for you cherrie picker chain.
Drive unit removal best done with the car correctly mounted on a 4 arm hydrolic lift,cherrie picker and good chain bolted to the for and aft loops on the engine top area.
Then follow the dissassembly list step by step.
You want the raised car level when pulling the drive unit.
If you can't do a hydrolic 4 arm lift jackstands will hvwe to doo or some other stout blocks.
You'd want the tires off the ground at least a foot so you can get to underneath accessed items and the car still level.
I put the engine and trans. unit up on a bench.
Remove needed fasteners between the 2 and cherrie pick the engine off the trans.
Step by step on a list will get the engine out.
