Most real Saab technicians will personally rebuild your 5 speed tranny but your car will be down while the pieces are ordered and the job is done, generally a week or so if the shop isn't backed way up with work. If you want to get a transmission and have your guy just swap it in ask him if he's heard of Eriksson Industries in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. But first, be real sure that it isn't just a broken down shift coupling. That could cause all of your symptoms and will cost infinitely less to repair (and a new transmission won't come with one either). Cheers.
