I find that half the fun of working on older cars (79 Alfa Spider, 79 International Scout, 91 Saab) is increasing their reliability, serviceability, and comfort. Why not add intermittent wipers to an old truck, under dash lights to an old convertible, hidden stereo with Ipod connections, in dash outside air temp, rebuild a seat so it's more comfortable but looks stock, etc?
My cooling system/thermostat is fine I don't have access to electricity for a block heater, the car warms up after a few blocks, I fixed my seat heater, but my door locks cylinders are worn (I swapped them several years ago and now they are both prettyworn) so I was going to add remote lock capability. Then I found a remote start unit on ebay cheaper than just the lock unit so I figured I would give it a try. Just wondered if anyone else had done it because it would be nice to run the car a few minutes before I leave in the morning, and maybe I can have the windows roll down in the summer as I approach the car so it cools off quicker. Again, why not create some convenience with the correct application of technology.
