all i used was a ratchet, 6" extension, 3" extension, and a swival socket adapter with the appropriate sized socket on the end. i didnt have to remove a thing, just the shock. you'll have to wrestle with it to get the right angle, but dont try breaking anything to get it off. bad idea. once you get that nut off its just one more on the control arm and you're done, shouldnt take more than 15 minutes each shock. good luck!
