While it may not be a cheap part, one can R&R a starter in a 900 fairly easily. It lays on "top" of the block, under the inlet manifold. If you have another one, its no more than a 2 or 3 hour job for someone who has never done it. Maybe an hour for a Saab wrench...
Try the Saab recyclers who are sponsors of TSN. Someone out there will have one cheaper...
