whenever i get a new saab i immediately drain and change both the tranny and motor oil. Actually the coolant system get new fluid and a new thermo. - This is just because you never know what the previous owner really did. - Unless you actually know him. ( i might have some trust issues)
I run catrol syntec full synthetic. in both the tranny and engine. - If your shifter rod seal is even the slightest worn, the synthetic will run right out. - So if that happens i either by the engine stop leak stuff and use that. or the lucas oil - Engine stop leak is a Great buy way of limiting the leak.
- I've had one car i bought start leaking oil everywhere as soon as i put syntec in and that caused blow-by with the oil slipping past the rings and smoke coming out of the oil dipstick. - ran like a rapped ape, but no good for the car. Could've been from the P.O. putting sand or something in there to stop the blow-bye until he signed the car over to me. - Who knows... - My SPG gets synthetic now because it is cheap and you can get it at walmart for $20 bucks in a 5 gallon container.just please make sure you don't leave the oil in there for 10,000 miles....
