outer CV boot / axle nut ?

Hi people,
Relatively new saab owner here, just noticed the boot on my driver side outer CV joint is split, grease coming out. I'm in the process of getting parts to replace the boot. (The CV joint itself seems fine). Question: assuming it's necessary to remove the axle nut to do this job, is it necessary to replace the axle nut with a new one? Or can you just reuse to old one? Also: is there a way to replace the outer CV boot without taking the wheel off? Thanks.
