Best oil and filter for me.

I'm getting to the point where I guess I should get my oil changed. I have scoured scores of posts on here and it is clear that there are many different answers to the old "What's the best oil for the C900?" That being said I'm not a DIY'er and I'm not wealthy and what I know about cars is only what I have read on this forum over the last few months. I don't want to keep a vigil over the oil I put in my car, I just want to get the oil changed and forget about it til it's time to do it again.
So, I have a 1994 C900 Turbo Convertible. It has about 106k miles and doesn't have any leaks evident(I have to assume by now, on my 2nd C900 and having ridden in at least 2 others that they all smell like that). I'm not opposed to getting my own filter and oil for the oil change, I just would like to know exactly what I should get and how long I should go between oil changes? Also should I have the gear box fluid changed? Do I need to go to a Saab savvy guy for this? It seems from what I read that the transmission fluid for the Saab is oil? Do I use the same oil for both?
I know these are rudimentary questions, I scanned the FAQ and tried the search, I'm just having trouble wading through the mire.
Thanks in advance!!
xoxo,
Amelia
