Yep - rich running can cause combustion in the exhaust manifold and create gnarly boost levels.

Is getting lots of boost as indicated on the gauge, or lots of boost indicated on the butt dyno? Super-retarded timing will cause high boost and no power, along with overheating and other undesirable side effects.

Earthbrown is spot on - this almost certainly isn't an APC problem.
