Once the clamp is removed, you might also be able to grip the larger plastic "nut" with a big pair of adjustable pliers while you unscrew the speedo cable.
Couple notes:
1. When you remove the bolt in the driver housing to remove the clamp, be prepared for the transmission oil to leak out the hole. This is more likely if the nose of the car is up in the air, and all the oil is at the back of the transmission.
2. When reassembling, some anti-seize on the inside of the speedo cable housing may prevent this from happening again... :) Related, don't overtighten...
