I've done the control arm job before. I agree, passenger side, no big deal. I just took a quick look under the seat at the resevoir. From what I could see it looked fine. There was no fluid puddles in the area either.
I've got an extra Comm Ed wheel, so that is not an issue either.
I couldn't say how long it's been sitting. I'm not too terribly concerned about the black smoke. The car drove fine. My wife just mentioned it when I came back from the test drive.
Actually there is nothing wrong with the car that is a deal breaker. I've got enough parts off the two parts convertibles I parted out in the spring that I don't need to buy anything. I'm just debating weather I actually want to add another classic Saab to the group I already have. I wasn't actively looking, it just kind of showed up near me. Is it fate?
I won't be converting to 5-speed. It may end up going to my 16 y-o son (#2), and he doesn't want a stick. He actually doesn't even want a classic Saab. He wants a newer one. But I think driving it may convince him of the error of his ways. :-) My wife texted my other son about the car. He's driving a '93 Comm Ed. He's in college right now. He called me and said he'd trade his Comm Ed for the convertible with son #2.
