It's actually the opposite - power steering racks have a quicker ratio than EMS racks due to the power assist making up the mechanical advantage. My 5-door was without power steering for several years and quite frankly I would not recommend it. It's a bear at any speed, and I agree that it could pose a danger in the right situation. Sure some cars don't have power steering, but those cars aren't 3000lb monsters with 195mm wide tires with 130+ hp. It's one thing if your 2200lb 77hp Civic doesn't have power assist, but I wouldn't do it on a later c900. I'm pretty sure there's a reason why all the heavy c900s came with it from the factory.
