I used the stud welder gun- had to find an extension piece for the gun "barrel" as the banjo on the fuel rail end impinged on the straight shot with the gun body in the way- just so you knows- the threaded stud attached almost dead on - maybe 1/32 off dead center but I had used a slightly smaller diameter stud so it was still on the old bolt.
will need to wiggle stat housing down over the new 1 o'clock stud and finesse the 7 oclock housing ear "between" the block ear and a rail flange ear before bolting latter.
All in all not a bad solution- I'll keep pb blaster or liquid wrench on the old stud and hope some of it melts thru over time and I'll again try the 2 nuts to turn it out.
