You remove the vacuum advance on the distributor. That device has a little arm that advances the timing by about 5 degrees stock. You can "bend the stop" (it looks like a large metal pencil eraser) to about twice the usual distance from the arm (i used vice grips). The vacuum module will allow for 10 degrees of timing advance now (from 16 to 21 degrees on my car). This allows for better holding of boost, and better off boost torque.
You can do it to your vacuum module, but I wanted a spare in case I screwed it up.
