Assuming that Justin is right and not many amps flow through the ignition "start" branch of the circuit, nothing could be more subtle than a rewired AC switch that serves as "start" button--of course the AC switch isn't designed for momentary engagement, but the general scenario is intriguing and, with proper mods, probably doable. The key-start on my wife's Pontiac G6 may as well be a push-button assembly. Anything longer than a tap to start makes grinding noises that I almost cannot bear.
