there was a time when i drove around blinded Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Tue, 21 Jul 2009 11:43:24 In Reply to: Almost all tools are in car at all times, ZAAB [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 21 Jul 2009 10:58:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
from the inevitable same as the next person, until..... the car died when i was 400 miles from anything, and not even a vice-grips in sight.
well after going through what no human should endure i vowed never again,
sure people sign up for triple a or some on-road service and dump their money in the service for endless years, after a few years of paying for an on-road service i could have rebuilt my entire car twice over. but no,.. on road wasnt for me. give me a crescent wrench a vice grips and a block of wood and ill get it running again.
i suppose im currently carrying about 25 to 50 pounds of tools not to mention a spare ignition coil, dis-rotor, distributor, one spark plug wire, you know the essentials.
guarantee ill never be sitting again.
im currently at 325,000 miles and wouldn't hesitate to jump in and drive accrost the country, except for the new tires it needs and a wheel bearing... and if i had the time that is, if say something would hinder the car in its travels at this point its a fact ill get to my destination with out needing the car to be towed.
just a tip when i hit 200,000 miles everything started to go. the biggest thing i found was vibration, the never ending rubbing of a radiator hose on the block or the frame of the car, or a rubbing vacuum hose or a wire.
vibration so far was the biggest problem in keeping the car running.
traveling through a desert in mid summer who wants to wait of on-road.
but of course this is in the past, i had depended heavily on the 900 for many years now it just sits and looks cool.
i sure would like to chat more but once again time is not on my side.
later all
