I researched this on the Honda forums before changing to Honda MTL. While the formula is secret, the conventional wisdom is that the MTL is 10-30 synthetic oil with the additives for wear and syncro management added. The Honda dealers apparently upgrade to the Honda MTL from whatever was in older hondas made before Honda MTL came out without any special procedures.
As your transmission has had recent fluid change I would think that you would have no problem changing over. The instructions from some stating that you must rinse out old oil comes from switching from a gearbox that has had no change for 15 years and up. The Honda MTL should last a lot longer than 5000 miles, but it is only 8 bucks a liter.
BTW, I think they only sell one Honda MTL, at least that what I was told.
