You're doing the right thing. That power bleeder is one of the best tools I've ever bought and is the only way to bleed some of the C900 slave cylinders that I've dealt with.
I did this job a few weeks ago and after replacing the master, two things happened. First, the flexible section of hose near the slave burst. Second, the slave itself failed!
Note that the slave will leak when it fails. The master often fails by bypassing internally without leaking.
