"started just fine, took the had-brake off,put into drive but would'nt move..double check if it was'nt on neutral, back to park then drive....gave a little more gas and then heard a half-loud "klunk" and started moving as it should..."
Dude-- you bought one with an automatic? You are SO screwed (I'm 0/2 on '93 autoboxes). You should start looking soon for a suitable donor car (late'88 or onward) to allow for conversion to a manual. Granted, I've not seen, heard, or driven your car and so I could be completely wrong, but when I read "klunk" I had a flashback to a VERY dark episode in my own life. [Your symptoms were the same that preceded total fwd drive failure on my wife's drive home shortly thereafter. I still have reverse but I haven't let her know since, after being left stranded, she would likely use it to crush my skull].
You can search the site and find all sorts of hopeful remedies (tranny fluid flush; band adjustment; filter replacement, Lucas (or other) additives, but if the auto tranny is damaged, the tranny is trashed. I obviously can't rule out some sort of brake problem, but I'll bet you a doughnut that my diagnosis is right.
Good luck with that one, I hope you can get it back on the road.
