wellll it all depends as a guy once told me...
You can get the head pulled off and inspected for damage of the valves and pistons for not too much... but it appears from the picture that you live in the snow belt. Do they salt the roads in your area? how long have to had the car? have looked *really closely* for signs of rust? You also mentioned putting money in it considering it is a non-turbo, does that mean you would rather have a turbo?
if their is internal damage you *might* consider looking out West for an engire car... just a thought. no rust, and perhaps you find the car you want...
