ScanTech replied! I think they've earned another chance Posted by Andy of Vermont [Email] (#702) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andy of Vermont) on Thu, 25 Feb 2010 16:16:50 In Reply to: I wrote an email to ScanTech today!, Andy of Vermont [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 25 Feb 2010 07:33:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I got on their website and found their contacts page and decided to try their North America sales rep, figuring he'd be the most likely to speak English. Same day reply that I thought was very encouraging. I think I'm going to try the ScanTech valve. If it goes badly, I'll contact them again and see what can be done. Let's face it, if we want to keep our old Saabs on the road for a long time, it would behoove us to do all we can to help ScanTech be the best they can be, unless any of us wants to start our own parts manufacturing company (which I was starting to think about). I wouldn't say it sounds like all problems have been addressed, but I'm thinking our best bet is to keep in contact with them until the part is right. At least that's the path I'm going to take for now.
Here is the email I received:

Hi Andy:
Niclas Juthage is SCANTECH's Quality Manager and looked into this valve
back in December when we received a sudden flurry of complaints. What
Niclas and the supplier were able to determine was the parts in question
came from a prior shipment, a rather old shipment, and the white
lubricant used on the part had deteriorated making it difficult for the
valve to function. All stock from that shipment has been returned for
rework.
Niclas has received no complaints about leakage as you note below but we
will look into this further to see if we can identify any issues.
Niclas will send you a replacement value tomorrow if you can send us
your name and phone number (needed by UPS).
We look forward to your comments upon receipt of the part and appreciate
your willingness to go to bat for us on the various sites. Too often if
one person has one bad experience, regardless of cause, they get on a
blog and blast the manufacturer without first collecting all the facts.
Thanks for aiming before firing!
Best regards,
Ken Husband
