You don't need to get it on a lift, but that would be best. Turn the wheels all the way to the right and you should be able to see in enough to see if there's a problem. Also look down inside the opening in the shock tower in the engine bay and you should be able to see if things are bad. Bring a flashlight, even in the daylight, it will be difficult to see without one.
Definitely look under the rest of the car as well, and in the spare tire cargo area. Look for signs of floor rot. And check the lower inside portion of the doors.
Anything is fixable with time and money. You just need to decide if it's worth it for you.
