SISteve - There is no definitive way to identify an SiS unless one is able to talk to , as im my case the SAAB store owner, someone who remembers receiving the car at the dealership, one per franchise. I examined the build sheet, shipping invoice and a photograph of the car on the showroom floor, all framed and hanging on the store wall. As well as confirming the purchase with the Radiologist I bought it from. VIN numbers on all paperwork matched those on the car. However, SiS vin #'s are not sequenced 1 - 288 as many expect. My criteria sticker denotes "Aero". Not sure if that is significant. SiS cars were equiped with every available option SAAB offered in 1988. I have seen SiS clones up close, built to be such, and could see no difference with mine other than the absense of the badge on the glove box door. So the badge could be key to authenticty without being able to trace the cars delievery history. Please examine the pics of my car posted on Saabnet. The interior shot shows the orginal steering wheel and the SiS badge in its original location. I replaced the glove box door due to surface bubbles and still have it. Of note is the exterior paint which coated the SPG panels in gloss black with the original color gray set in the stripe. Sacrilege to some, but I like the effect. Wish I had more to offer concerning SiS authenticity, but don't.
