rotor spins anti-clockwise (from in front) Posted by Cmyles [Email] (#1126) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Cmyles) on Wed, 9 Jun 2010 12:07:02 In Reply to: Oh yeah, one other possiblity, Notnoel [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 9 Jun 2010 11:11:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Slyde (and Noel),
Remember, the engine is in backwards, the flywheel, crank, cams, all that stuff rotates anti-clockwise when viewed from in front of the car. That (of course) means that the distributor rotor spins anti-clockwise as well. Make sure that your plug wire arrangement takes that into account. And cylinder #1 is the one closest to the windshield. As long as cylinder 1 is at TDC (by the flywheel mark) and the cam sprocket marks are straight up then the valve timing is correct, it can not be 180 out. You can't make the distributor 180 out either because the slot in the cam and dog on the distributor shaft are off-center and won't go together 180 (or any other) degrees off. But you could put your plug wires on the cap wrong and that's the most likely condition here or at least the first thing to check.
