I had this (lights go on) happen once driving in a massive traffic jam
in 90+ weather a couple of years ago. Braking was reduced during
the nerve-wracking 10 mintues it took me to get out of traffic.
Cleared up (lights go off 10-20 seconds after startup) when
the car cooled down.
I try to go easy on the brakes in similar situations (i.e. use the parking
brake if it looks like I'm not going to be moving for a couple of minutes)
and it's never happened again.
You might want to do the stomp test to check the accumulator.
(from http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/900/index.html?bID=354152)
The ABS accumulator test is to start the car and let the ABS pump stop
running. Now do the "Spider Stop" - hit the brake pedal hard and fast,
like you were stomping out a spider on the pedal. How many pumps before
the ABS and Brake FLuid lights come on? I like to think 12 or more is a
good accumulator; 8 to 12 is one to watch; anything less than 5 is a bad
accumulator. They're relatively easy to replace, and check the board as
some folks have found low-cost alternatives.
