Ladies and gentlemen,
let me introduce the very special guest start for this show: The Previous Owner.
I'm not aware of US-spec versions of C900's, but I think the same goes there as well: BA15s. Lemme spell it for you: bravo-alfa-one-five-sierra. This is the bulb cap used for both side lamps (low power, 5W) and turn signal lights, brake light, rear fog lights, reverse light (high power, 21W; some lights use two-mode P21/5W bulbs, but we're putting this out of context here). Our very special guest star thought that it'd be darn nice if the front sidelights would be bright and so he put . Yeah, sure. I even could not pull one bulb (the holder was melted) out so I had to brake it into pieces.
Long story short:
- do not install too-much power bulbs: either into headlights or any other. It kills the lens, the reflector, the connector, the wiring
- you need more light? Clean the stuff - the lights are not air-tight (moreover they are not dust-proof) so there's plenty of dirt on the bulb, on the reflector and on the lens; the bulbs do not last forever, replace them every two years or after 600 hours of run-time whatever comes first; see your ophthalmologist; go leds (the last one to be continued in about a month)
- if you're not the original owner of your C900 then it's worth checking your bulbs. The 1st symptom is that you can hardly undo the holder from the lens - usually it means that the holder is damaged and if there're no signs of road accident then it's a heat-damage that can only occur if bad bulb is installed
Do you hear me, 90\100W users?
Zig
