I have an 88 spg and noticed that my passenger side headlight was dim . when I took the bulb out and disconnected it from its plug I noticed that the plastic of the plug is scorched black and crumbling where it surrounds the metal bits that the bulbs metal pins plug into . the little metal bits that the pins plug into were a little bent out of place , but did not appear to be scorched or oxidized . I replaced the bulb and the headlight is back to normal brightness again . about 8 years ago I had an 86 spg and I think I remember the wiring to the passenger headlight on that car starting to scorch to the point that I had to repair it . Does anyone know why this is happening and what I should do about it ? can this kind of thing damage other components or start a fire ? thanks in advance for advice . P.S. I did clean up the ground contacts at the radiator cross member last year , but did not do a very thorough job as they are hard to reach .
